Alkyds (Oil Modified Polyesters)

Raw Materials (Alkyds are derived from polyols and organic acids, including dibasic organic acids or anhydrides, polyhydric alcohols and triglyceride oils)


Linseed, Soya, Castor Oils, their Fatty Acids, or Tall Oil Fatty Acids, Glycerin, Ethylene glycol, Trimethylolpropane, Trimethylolethane Pentaerythritol, Phthalic Anhydride, Isophthalic Acid, Maleic Anhydride (Fumaric Acid), Adipic Acid, Benzoic Acid, Phenolic Resins, Vinyl Toluene, Styrene, Trimetric Anhydride


End Use

Lithographic printing ink, architectural and industrial paints and coatings.

Polyesters (saturated or unsaturated)

Raw Materials (dibasic organic acids and polyhydric alcohols)


Glycerin, Ethylene Glycol, Erimethylolpropane, Trimethylolethane, Pentaerythritol, Propylene Glycol, Diethylene Glycol, Phthalic Anhydride, Isophthalic Acid, Terephthalic Acid, Maleic Anhydride (Fumaric Acid), Adipic Acid, Benzoic Acid


End Use

Industrial paint and coatings, composites. Glass fiber-reinforced composites filament winding, vacuum molding, spray-up molding, resin transfer molding (RTM), gel coats, polymer concrete, and engineered stone/cultured marble.

Urethanes (oil modified and urea alkyds)

Raw Materials (a resin modified by the addition of triglyceride oils or fatty acids and other components such as dibasic organic acids and polyhydric alcohols but mainly isocyanates)   


Linseed, Soya Oils, their Fatty Acids, or Tall Oil Fatty Acids, Glycerin, Ethylene Glycol, Trimethylolpropane, Trimethylolethane Pentaerythritol

Toluene Diisocyanate or Modified With Phthalic Anhydride, Isophthalic Acid


End Use

Lithographic printing ink modifier, interior wood coating (floors like urethane), wood furniture

Rosin Esters (like alkyds bur rosins in place of triglyceride oils or Fatty acids, these include plain rosin esters, Maleic(fumaric) or phenolic modified esters)

Raw Materials (rosin modified by the addition of polyols and organic acids including dicarboxylic acids or carboxylic acid anhydride and phenols)

       

Tall Oil, Wood or Gum Rosin, Glycerin,Ethylene Glycol, Trimethylolpropane, Trimethylolethane Pentaerythritol, Phthalic Anhydride, Isophthalic Acid, Maleic Anhydride (Fumaric Acid), Phenols such as Bisphenol A, Octyl and Nonyl Phenol
